Discover a Christian Education that Nurtures Heart and Mind
The purpose of education is formation- forming hearts to know God's love and truth and forming minds to curiously engage in meaningful learning. We strive to deliver authentic learning experiences that are grounded in a Christian worldview, provide excellence in education, and create a community to nurture intellectually, social, and spiritual growth.
Students at Summit explore the interconnectedness between subjects, their world, and God's big story. We provide an integrated curriculum, where fields of study speak to each other and are part of a common narrative grounded in big ideas and questions. We take on an inquiry- based approach to learning that sparks curiosity, develops critical thinkers and doers, and applies learning to meet real community needs. Summit focuses on the liberal arts and sciences to cultivate wise and eloquent men and women.
We teach our students to think well, to speak well, to write well, and to discern what is true, good, and beautiful, all the while cultivating their knowledge and devotion to God through Christ. We believe that education should teach students how to think, not what to think.
Summit Academy Provides
-
God-Centered Education
Summit Academy is committed to shepherding the hearts of students by providing high-quality God-Centered education. We teach all subjects as part of an integrated whole, with Scriptures at the center. Students are equipped to know and love the truth and utilize that knowledge to glorify God in all things. As students experience history, literature, science, math, and the arts, they learn about God, his world, and their role as loved children of God. We believe that respect and honor of God are foundational for all learning at Summit Academy.
-
Rigorous Curriculum
There is no place for shoddy Christian education. We are preparing the next generation of leaders, therefore we must equip them with the core knowledge to take on the most demanding leadership roles required of the 21st century. An academically rigorous course of study will best prepare students to deal purposefully and responsibly with the complex issues of living in this present society.
-
Whole-Child Approach
We care about what kids know, who they are, and who they will become. We create a safe and welcoming learning environment where each child feels heard, seen, and cared for. We believe cultivating positive relationships with our students is at the heart of learning. These supportive relationships have a positive influence on a child’s academic and personal development.
-
Service Learning
Students participate in yearly service learning projects. Whether raising money for a cause, serving in the community, or creating something, students engage in leadership and service. We attend to the whole child to develop academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
-
Community Model
Multi-age classrooms make learning fun and engaging for everyone involved! Flexible groupings make sure each student is challenged to his/her fullest potential, rather than being taught skills that they are not ready for, or that they have already mastered. Children are invited to take charge of their learning and are part of the goal setting process.
-
Family Partnership
Partnering with parents means that we are entering into a covenant with one another in a shared mission and vision. We commit together to model the things that are true, good, and beautiful for our students. Our partnership ensures the hearts and minds of children are molded at home, in school, and within the church.
Classical Christian Education
Summit Academy is inspired by the classical Christian model for learning. Classical Christian education utilizes the liberal arts and sciences to cultivate wise and eloquent men and women. Classical Christian education teaches students to think well, to speak well, to write well, and to discern what is true, good, and beautiful, all the while cultivating their knowledge and devotion to God through Christ.
Classical Christian Education recognizes that the end of education is not information transfer but the cultivation of godliness and virtue.
Inquiry-Based Learning
Summit Academy approaches academics not as siloed subjects, but as a fully interdisciplinary experience. This allows our learners to draw meaning, purpose, and relevancy into all that they do. Students demonstrate core-skill mastery, independence, critical thinking, creativity, and innovative problem solving abilities through authentic real-world experiences. Summit Academy utilizes inquiry-based learning to promote skills that are vital for success in a rapidly changing world while encouraging students to be inquisitive, critical, and independent thinkers. Summit engages students in active exploration, investigation, and discovery.
Faith Formation
Faith formation of students is an essential part of Christian education. This involves a process of growth and change by hearing God in his Word, growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus and bearing lasting fruit. Students at Summit will learn what it means to live more Christ-like through love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, and self-control. This shows up on multiple levels. First, the culture of the school is shaped by the Christian faith: how staff, students, parents, donors, and the board treat one another, the values they live by, and what we love. All of it should be shaped by the gospel. Second, the education is informed by and saturated with the Christian story. It is important that students have a deep grasp of science, math, literature, and each academic subject in light of the Christian faith. Third, Summit staff will teach students about the Bible as a subject, immersing in Christian doctrine and the story of God’s work in the world through Jesus.
